If you are choosing to drive Citrix UPM configurations from WEM, then you can now consume as part of the Hydration Kit, a full configuration based on my current UPM build for Windows 10/Server 2016.
These settings are a combination of James Rankin and Carl Stalhood and to date have been roaming Windows 10 and Server 2016 well for me. However, they may need tweaking across your own environments and specific flavours of Windows 10/Server 2016
To note in this configuration
- Active Write-Back is disabled on purpose. Only enable this if you have a specific need to do so
- Basic Logging is enabled to the default locations – change if you need
- I don’t migrate existing profiles on principle, so my configuration reflects this – change if you need to
- I delete local in the case of conflicting – change if you need to
- I have disabled UPM for admins – change if you need to
This template assumes you use Microsoft folder redirection.
Review all configuration settings and Test before pushing into production. This is a starting baseline and not something I claim to be perfect for all environments

Good stuff man.
Question. I see you have appdata\local excluded. Which gets everthing in appdata\local.
Then you have a bunch of exclusions in the same path..
Example:
appdata\local\attconnect
appdata\local\Appsname
Just curious why are you adding more directories with appdata\local hits it all?

Ah I hadn’t even noticed – its basically because I have grabbed a couple of well known configs from people far smarter than myself and combined them 🙂 (Carl Stalhood and James Rankin) – JR tends to be a bit more fine grained

Ahh ok man no worries. So If I just keep appdata\local that will ignore anything in the local and below correct? I don’t need the rest of the other that are in appdata local.

How can I import these xml files into wem? Everytime i choose restore and navigate to the folder, it doesnt show any settings to check, all checkboxes are grayed out and next option is not enabled.

you need to choose settings when you go through the restore wizard – point it at the UPM folder and it should pickup the XML

That is exactly what I did. After I have selected correct folder, none of the options are available. All options are grayed out.

Any chance the xml files are corrupted once downloaded? I tested and it works fine for me…

I tried actions this time instead of settings and it worked. For MS office 2016, I see there are only application shortcuts in the xml file. Do we have WEM settings/policy to redirect ost file to user’s profile path?

Should be contextual – settings for the Profile Management Module, Actions for the other components.
As for OST in profile, if you are referring to the containerization feature, then no, at this point that option is not available in the currently release of WEM – ADMX and Studio Policy at this point as far as i know

Good stuff. Work like a charm. But I have found out the GPO seems to process UPM just a tad bit better than WEM.
I migrated the setting from the Hydration kit you provided to GPO. Then add seme extra stuff
CTX238525
“AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions” to Folders to mirror.
CTX232587
• AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Login Data
• AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Last Session
Had the rest of the Chrome stuff already.
From Carl Stahood ( Not my credit)
For Windows 10 1709 and newer, you might have to add Outlook Signatures and Chrome to the Folders to Mirror setting. Leave these folders in Folders to Synchronize, but also add them to Folders to Mirror. (source = Citrix Discussions) 💡
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures
AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\First Run
AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Local State
AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Favicons
AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\History
AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Preferences
But James you are the man on this stuff.
